Death of a Naturalist - Response :)

As a child, i enjoyed activities such as playing out in my sreet; childhood games with the other kids, but as a teenager, i would no longer choose to do so. I would now rather spend time in other places more interesting than the confines of my estate :)
During childhood, certain activities are enjoyed; playing in muddy or snowy environments is a popular choice for kids, but as you grow up, your attitude changes to these things. As you become a teenager, i think that you distance yourself from these things, and as you become more mature, you prefer to spend your time more constructively and live independantly by doing activities more further afield that meet your personal intrests....
I think that the poem, 'Death of a Naturalist' is about growing up, and our strange - sometimes pleasing but also often disturbing - view of nature, and our relationship with it. It uses many devices, including similes and sound effects, to convey these feelings and the way in which nature is seen by people, and often, it is the negative side of nature that is shown through the onomatapeoia, with the similies describing the positive sides...
